Written-on-the-Wind was set up originally with grand intentions.
To do what a blog is supposed to be used for, blogging (of course!)posting up some poetry, articles, personal philosophies, other thoughts and ideas etc, etc.

So what happened, since way back whenever?

Well, I kinda got bogged down with having too many writing ideas/projects (I should be so lucky) that I wanted to do, and even continued writing up lists of all the wonderful things I was going to write about, when I finally got time! Sound familiar?

Along with that there were all those writing magazines - with even more writing ideas to copy, cut out, put in one of my writing folders on the PC (oh yes, there's quite a few of those now!) not to mention the growing list of writing websites to up-date, that I need to check out.
These sources of inspiration, and many more, included how-to articles on all manner of writing, which also had to be cut out. Well, when I get tired of writing crime stories, I may well turn my hand to Sci-Fi, or romantic comedy or historical fiction (should that be hysterical?) This mind has no boundaries, but is that a problem I ask myself. None of the above have been started, yet, but just wait.

Another little detour had me giving poetry a go, yes I have a number of these by now, safely stashed away in a folder, I mean I don't just want anyone to see them, now do I?

Then there was, and still is, the song writing. That's to say the lyrics, of which I have a few, some have even been produced as songs. You can, if you feel inclined, see some of those lyrics right here on Blogger at www.the-write-page.blogspot.com. I even had the cheek to send some out to record companies and publishers - still waiting to hear that some big named artist or band, is going to make them their next hit - it will happen of course! They can't keep on turning down top quality numbers like these.
Not only that, and I'm almost ashamed to say it, but I somehow found the courage to put these 'rough' demo's of songs on this Myface, sorry, Myspace thing. At dub dub dub - Oh, allright I'll give you the proper website, just so you don't think I'm completely inturnet non-savvy. It's www.myspace.com/Skyeways.

Ok, so I got a bit serious back there, totally out of character for me. All right, where were we? Ah yes, there has been another diversion of late, into dreaming up (don't laugh)ideas for films, TV films, shows, documentaries, game shows - oh yes! - you aint seen nuthin' yet. And that's just the problem, neither has anyone else. Although to be fair, I have sent some out to film/TV production companies. That blockbuster movie coming to a screen near you, may be from one of my ideas, and don't try to tell me I'm like the movie character Walter Mitty. More like The Invisible Man, to be honest.

Of course in between times, just to make life more interesting, there has been the 'inventions & design ideas'. Of course I can't tell you too much about these,or someone else might pinch them. They just pop into my head from time to time, it's amazing how much 'stuff' one can hold up there. I mean the original double-bladed razor was my idea, really it was. I had just started shaving in fact, and as well as cutting myself up pretty badly, again, I realised that it was a pretty smooth shave. Then I discovered, that I'd put two razor blades into the razor at the same time! What a great idea, I thought. A few years later Mr Gillette had the same idea, but he did something about it. Well when you're just 17, you don't think that an idea like that could have made you multi-millions.

The reason I started writing anything here, was in fact because one of the most recent books I have 'on writing' - I have to keep up my research - said something I've heard so boringly often before. If you want to be a writer, you have to write.
Of course that's just been my problem, I've been doing anything but writing in truest sense.
The author went on to say, "write anything that comes into your head, but start doing it, your thoughts, feelings, hopes, desires, the things you think you'd like to write about, the past and future. But do it every day, even if it is only two pages each day". Another author said something along the lines that, if you write just two or three pages a day, you could have your novel or whatever written in a year. The point being that I and maybe you, too often have our thoughts and sights set on some distant horizon, and forget that we have to put one foot in front of the other to get there.

Anyway, I've made a start, my first footstep. Not sure when the next one will be, although my good intention is to put up some of those other 'writings' already mentioned. They're serving no good purpose hidden away, so let's see what happens.
